I install plugins
I haven’t installed any plugins since I installed this blog. I was lazy and rushed and didn’t really think it through. I meant to install feedburner and forgot. I just got this well crafted comment which made me think:
“Hahaha, you have “nofollow”
No wonder you have no readers!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHA”
He’s probably right. So notice the dofollow plugin, top commentators, and a contact page that actually works.
Update: I just got spammed…Plugins go back off, however I’ll leave the contact page working

Dofollow has nothing to do with getting more readers. Keep making great posts and the readers will come. Top commentators and do-follow will just attract spammers.

I realise it doesn’t actually help with getting readers. I didn’t make that clear in my post
. I just thought it might promote intelligent comments from people who wanted a link. However I just got spammed. I am reviewing the situation…
I guess we all make mistakes. I hope?

I agree with Nicky… Nofollow if you want, dofollow if you want. I’ll read and comment if there is a sufficient reason to do so. While dofollow is a nice side-effect, if the only reason someone will comment on your blog is for the hope of a little link juice, screw em.
I’m guessing you’ve only been active (again?) for a couple of weeks. I wouldn’t even worry about reader count at this point. I like your posts thus far. If you want more comments, ask more questions. Blog readers love to show how smart they are.

Well I *was* going to continue reading this blog… but now that I’ve had a taste of dofollow I don’t know if I can go back!!!

Dankind, are you messing with me
? I’m not sure how that comment escaped my spam filters with all that spamminess. Oh right. I don’t have any. I don’t even know my own admin password without checking in a file. I am an ace blogger.
Don’t leave the fold Dankind, I’ll miss you in ways you/I couldn’t imagine. I’m going to check my server logs everyday for your IP address from now on. Would that be a bit too much like stalking?

LOL. Maybe the guy who told you “HAHA, you have no follow” is the one who spammed you. That’s quite an interesting strategy.

I don’t think it’s a very successful one, if it was used intentional. I think only very, very few blogger will change their nofollow/dofollow attitude based on one of these comments… but what about hidden requests in several comments… that could work

anty, like subliminal messages?
I like *do* your red *follow* hair… ?
As to guest posting nickycakes, it’s an interesting thought

That was a nice joke. Now a days it is really hard to find reader on the blogs which is no follow. LOL.

how to install?
April 7th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Yeah, dofollow is a good way to attract spammers… I’m not sure why anyone would intentionally activate it. I guess if you’re really desperate for search engine positioning or something.
April 9th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
no follow, no readers, LOL.
April 10th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
All you need to do is to install a captcha plugin. That will stop spam bots from posting comments on your blog.
Having do follow links encourage people to post comments on your blog and if those comments are useful where is the harm?
April 15th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
I agree with UK blogger, no harm in having do follow links. Just filter out the bad comments. More people will come to your blog, good writing will keep them coming back!

I believe me meant to say:
“Hahaha, you have “nofollow”
No wonder you have no spammers!!!!!!!!!”
